Make sure that you have extra cash, snacks and drinks on hand. This will make the day go smoother. Go out to eat, and eat a nice dinner and reward yourself and family for a job well done.
- Set aside all items needed for travel for pets
- Obtain cash, travel checks for trip.
- Dismantle beds and other large furniture
- Arrange to have your lawn mowed one last time
- Double check for disconnection of utilities and transfer of utilities
- Remove any items that did not convey
- Pack your suitcase
- Back up computer equipment
- Disconnect all equipment not needed.
- Notify the police that your house will be vacant
- Obtain multiple directions, addresses, contact information, cell phones for everyone and hand those out to all parties helping in the move.
- Leave behind all major appliance information
- Leave behind a forwarding address and contact information for your new address or emergency contact
- Empty and defrost refrigerator and freezer, put baking soda inside to keep fresh.
- Arrange for the moving company payment. Payment must be made at or before your belongings arrive at your new home. Know their policy on payment.
